Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has expanded its mobile tower footprint across the country. As of January 31, 2018, the company had a portfolio of 66,857 towers. In addition, it has hired 17,562 towers from other infrastructure providers to ensure better services to customers. Of the total 66,857 BSNL-owned towers, 585 are non-functional due to land issues, and the unavailability of equipment and power supply. However, BSNL aims to make these towers functional during the next financial year, based on an assessment of their techno-commercial viability.
