According to the data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), about 64.92 million subscribers have opted for the mobile number portability (MNP) service by August 2012.

As per the TRAI data, maximum MNP requests have originated from MNP Zone-I (Northern and Western India). Within the zone, Rajasthan has received the maximum porting requests by around 6.17 million users, followed by 5.66 million requests from Gujarat.

In MNP Zone-II (Southern and Eastern India) maximum MNP requests have been received from users in Karnataka. About 8.12 million subscribers in the state approached their operators with a request to migrate to another network. Andhra Pradesh circle received the second highest MNP requests with around6.15 million users opting for MNP.
