The Wireless Planning and Coordination wing of DoT intends to begin processing pending applications of spectrum for GSM-based mobile operators shortly. Approximately 40 MHz in the 1800 MHz and an additional 35 MHz of spectrum will be released in September-October 2006 and March 2007 respectively. Bharti Airtel, Hutchison Essar and perhaps Reliance Communication may gain from the September-October spectrum deployment.
