The union government has delicensed the use of low power wireless T equipment. This move allows any person to establish, maintain, operate, possess or deal in equipment in the frequency band 2.42.4835 GHz on a non-protection, non-interference and non-exclusive basis. In effect, wireless systems with a maximum “effective radiated” power up to 4 watts and with antenna or mast-head up to 5 metres on an existing authorised building can be operated in the frequency band 2.4-2.4835 GHz without the need for a wireless licence. Also, the indoor use of low power wireless systems with maximum “effective radiated” power up to 200 milliwatt in the frequency bands 5.15-5.35 GHz has been delicensed. Indoor usage includes utilisation within a single contiguous campus of an organisation and duly recognised organisations or institutions.
