The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is planning to issue a consultation paper on ways to encourage telecom equipment manufacturing in India as well as identify the impediments to the same. TRAI has already issued a pre-consultation paper in this regard, seeking the views of stakeholders. The move comes at a time when the government may impose a ban on the import of Chinese telecom equipment.
