The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has issued a consultation paper on collocation charges paid by operators for enabling effective interconnection of calls between each other’s networks. At present, collocation charges are determined through mutual agreements between operators. The paper seeks to examine issues such as terms and conditions for collocation, measures to ensure transparent and non-discriminatory treatment in pricing and provisioning of interconnection facilities, sharing of collocation costs, and operation and maintenance charges.
