The Telecom Commission has referred the issue of allowing internet telephony in India back to TRAI. The regulator had last year recommended that unrestricted domestic internet telephony be allowed in India. However, most mobile operators are against the proposal as it would lead to a substantial reduction in long distance tariffs and therefore affect their business models.
