The Taiwan Telecommunication Industry Development Association (TTIDA) and its Chinese counterpart, the Association of Com munications Across the Taiwan Strait (ACATS), have signed five MoUs for comprehensive cooperation on five aspects.

The Taiwan Telecommunication Industry Development Association(TTIDA) and its Chinese counterpart, the Association of Communications Across the Taiwan Strait (ACATS), have signed five MoUs for comprehensive cooperation on five aspects. These are the establishment of a mechanism specifically for cooperation and exchanges between members of TTIDA and ACATS, promotion of joint investment to build direct cross-strait submarine cable lines, cooperation in investment in both markets and other markets in Asia, cooperation in data roaming and 3G valueadded services, and cooperation to boost development of telecom-related hardware and software supply chains in Taiwan and China, mainly for the global market. TTIDA comprises five 3G mobile carriers in Taiwan –? Chunghwa Telecom, Taiwan Mobile, Far EasTone Telecommunications, Vibo Telecom and Asia Pacific Broadband Telecom –? while the three key members of ACATS are China Mobile Communications, China Telecom and China United Telecommunications.
