The Essar Group has said that the special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court hearing the 2G case had no jurisdiction to take cognisance of the CBI charge sheet filed against it and Loop telecom.

It added that it would be taking legal recourse in this regard. In a statement, the company stated, ?It has been advised that the special court has no jurisdiction in matters where no corruption charges have been alleged. Essar will take further legal recourse to defend its position”.

The court took cognisance of the charge sheet filed by the CBI against the promoters of the Essar Group and Loop Telecom.

Meanwhile, the company has denied all charges saying that it is a law abiding corporate in full compliance with all Unified Access Service Licence (UASL) provisions.
