According to the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), the rural subscriber base in the country at the end of October 2013 stood at 274.32 million. Operators added 1.66 million new rural subscribers in the period under review.

As per the industry association, Bharti Airtel had the maximum number of rural subscribers – 87.41 million-in October 2013. However, Vodafone India added maximum number of rural subscribers ? 0.77 million in the period under review.

Further, circle-wise, the Uttar Pradesh (East) service area had the maximum number of rural subscribers – 28.20 million in October 2013. State-wise, West Bengal witnessed the maximum addition of rural subscribers -320,392-in October 2013.
