According to Infonetics Research, the radio access network (RAN) segment witnessed significant activity in the first quarter of 2013.
This space was led by Ericsson, followed by Nokia Siemens Networks, Huawei and Alcatel-Lucent.
Going forward, the research firm expects 3G RAN to continue to witness higher demand than GSM, primarily driven by W-CDMA technology.
Meanwhile, as per the firm, the global 2G, 3G and 4G mobile infrastructure market was valued at $9.8 billion in the period under consideration. This amounted to a 9 per cent sequential and a 2 per cent year-over-year decline.
Revenues from LTE services stood at $2.7 billion in the first quarter of 2013, a 21 per cent quarter-over-quarter and a 108 per cent year-over-year increase.
