The National Telecom Policy 2011 will be unveiled in January 2012: Kapil Sibal

Kapil Sibal, Minister of Telecommunications and IT, has said that the National Telecom Policy 2011 will be introduced in January 2012.

Prior to this, the policy was expected to be unveiled by December 2011, but has been postponed owing to delays in receiving recommendations from the industry on the draft.

Sibal said, “The draft policy has already been announced as promised. The industry requires some more time to respond, which will be given to them. So, the policy will be finalised in January, instead of December.?

He added that the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India had recently sent in their recommendations on the draft policy, which are being examined by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT).
