The Lok Sabha agrees to extend the Joint Parliamentary Committee’s term

The Lok Sabha has accepted the Joint Parliamentary Committee?s request to extend its term up to the last date of next year?s Budget session.

The Committee was required to submit its report by the last date of the ongoing monsoon session, which is to end on September 8, 2011. However, it had decided to request the Lok Sabha speaker to extend its term.

The Committee, consisting of 20 members from Lok Sabha and 10 from Rajya Sabha, was constituted on March 4, 2011, to examine the entire gamut of policy prescriptions in the telecom sector from 1998 to 2009.
