According to ComScore, the internet user base in India reached 73.9 million by March 2013, making it the third largest market after China and the United States.

This has been attributed to the increasing number of subscribers accessing the internet through mobile handsets and the increasing adoption of various mobility devices such as smartphones.

Further, the research firm points out that as of March 2013, of the total 644 million home and work internet users in Asia-Pacific, China accounted for 54 per cent of the user base, followed by India (11.5 per cent), Japan (11.4 per cent), Southeast Asia (9.6 per cent) and rest of APAC (13.5 per cent).
