The government has asked all international equipment vendors to provide an undertaking that their products meet international standards and do not pose any security threat. If any spyware is detected in an equipment manufacturer’s products after the undertaking is submitted, the company will not be permitted to sell any equipment in the country. DoT, in association with service providers and the Ministry of Home Affairs, will also devise a policy on the imposition of financial penalties on such vendors.
