The government has approved the allotment of one block of 3G spectrum each to BSNL and MTNL.

The government has approved the allotment of one block of 3G spectrum each to BSNL and MTNL. MTNL is expected to launch 3G services within three months of spectrum allocation.

Meanwhile, BSNL, denying any first-mover advantage in the 3G arena, has stated that despite the award of 3G spectrum ahead of private players, it will only launch services by mid-2009.
