According to Infonetics Research, the global distributed antenna system (DAS) space continued to witness steady growth.
As per the research firm, over 1 million DAS were shipped in 2012 and revenues increased by 4 per cent to $1.9 billion.
The leading players in this space included CommScope (with a 17 per cent market share in 2012), followed by Comba.
The firm added that the highest demand for DAS in 2012 came from the US and China. This trend is likely to continue until 2017.
Going forward, revenues from the global DAS space is expected witness growth of 3 per cent between 2012 and 2017. Moreover, shipments of DAS nodes are expected to double, fuelled by a combination of coverage and capacity improvements in specific venues.
Meanwhile, overall growth drivers for deploying DAS include coverage, capacity, spectrum efficiency, interference mitigation, data support, scalability, and adaptability.
