The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has asked Vodafone India to migrate to the unified licencing in case the latter wants to merge its Indian subsidiaries with Vodafone Mobile Services Limited.
In its communication dated August 27, 2013, DoT has cited one of the clauses regarding the unified licencing guidelines, which mandates a company to migrate to the new licencing regime in case of a merger and acquisition deal. Vodafone India is the holding entity for Vodafone Plc?s India operations, with Vodafone Mobile Services Limited as a unit. Vodafone Mobile Services, along with other subsidiaries, provides telecom services across 22 circles in the country.
