
The Department of Income Tax has begun to scrutinize the finances, investments and returns of the companies which bagged a telecom licence in 2008, say news reports.
The companies under the scanner include Uninor, Loop Telecom, Sistema Shyam TeleServices Limited, Etisalat DB, S Tel, Videocon, Tata Teleservices Limited and Idea Cellular.
These companies face licence cancellation as per the Supreme Court?s verdict in the 2G spectrum case.
The scrutiny is being carried out as per the directions of the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC). This body is vetting the investigation reports of the Department of Income tax, along with the Enforcement Directorate and the Central Bureau of Investigation, both of which are currently investigating the 2G case
