The defence forces have rejected the telecom network offered by Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) as replacement for their existing network as the network was “insecure”. According to them, the spectrum for mobile services would be released if the network provided to them is “fully secure”. However, fully secure networks may triple the replacement costs to Rs 27 billion. DoT has not yet decided who will bear this additional expenditure.
