The Association of Unified Telecom Service Providers of India (AUSPI) has released a statement on the Union Cabinet approving the National Telecom Policy.

According to S.C. Khanna, secretary general, AUSPI says, ?Though a copy of the National Telecom Policy 2012 is not yet available, from whatever is available through media reports AUSPI welcomes formulation of National Telecom Policy after a gap of thirteen years from the earlier telecom policy which was framed way back in 1999.?

?AUSPI welcomes the consumer focus aspect in the National Telecom Policy of One Nation – Free Roaming.  The government should expeditiously in a time bound manner should implement this consumer oriented aspect of the National Telecom Policy which would be provide immense benefit to the ?Aam Aadmi?

?Emphasis on the affordability of services in the policy is a welcome step and we are confident that government will make available optimum quantity of spectrum at affordable price as well as rationalise taxes and levies. These steps will be cornerstone for the success of the policy and pave the way for more affordable telecom services and overall socio economic growth of the country.?
