The cellular subscriber base of China Unicom has risen to 98.79 million

The cellular subscriber base of China Unicom has reportedly risen to 98.79 million as of end-April 2006 from 97.91 million at the end of March 2006. While the company’s post-paid GSM users increased by 2.03 million in the first four months of the year, the number of prepaid users went up by 1.68 million. Subscribers to its CDMA service totalled 33.92 million at the end of April 2006, compared with 33.64 million at the end of the previous month.
