The board of Qatar Telecom (Qtel) has decided to delist the company’s shares from the Bahrain Stock Exchange on 26 February 2009. The decision has been taken in view of several considerations including a review of the company’s recent expansion into 17 countries and the consequent commitments and requirements.

The company has also been consistently witnessing low-volume trading of its shares on the stock exchange. Qtel does not expect the delisting to adversely affect the liquidity of the stock, its shareholders or other investors. Qtel listed on the Doha Securities Market in 1998, the Bahrain Stock Exchange in 2001, and the Abu Dhabi Securities Market in 2002. It also has a global depository receipt (GDR) listing on the London bourse (since 1999).
