Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has finalised a contract to buy 1 million 3G data cards from three vendors. The contract, valued at Rs 1.20 billion, will be given to HFCL, Teracom and Huawei.

BSNL had selected the vendors through an online bidding process. While HFCL will supply 0.525 million 3G cards for Rs 0.61 billion, Teracom has bagged contract for 0.425 million data cards at Rs 0.51 billion.

Huewei will supply the balance 50,000 cards for Rs 75 million. The tender was for procuring 1 million 3G USB data cards in three variants, offering speeds of 3.6, 7.2 and 14.2 Mbps.

According to Teracom, BSNL saved Rs 410 million by adopting the online-reverse auction process. Teracom had earlier supplied 0.3 million data cards to the company.
