Telesat and Nelco, a Tata group company, are likely to launch commercial satellite communications services together by 2024.
Currently, Nelco is in talks with Telesat to form a partnership. The two companies are already working together in many areas, and are in talks with the government for permissions. The details on the deal will be finalised in a few months.
The two companies plan to focus on offering affordable tariff to ring-fence business-to-business (B2B) customers. In addition to collaborating on terrestrial facilities, commercial distribution and regulatory frameworks, Nelco will also offer Telesat low-earth orbit (LEO) satellite services with superior enterprise connectivity in India.
