Telenor is planning to scale down its operations in India from 13 to nine circles, say news reports.
In particular, in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka and Orissa, the company will not take any initiative to net new users. In these areas, it will provide its users with 30 day?s advance notice prior to scaling down its operations.
Telenor has taken this decision with the aim of ensuring maximum utilisation of its existing funds. The company?s funding has been severely impacted by the Supreme Court?s verdict in the 2G spectrum case.
Meanwhile, it will continue to focus on the remaining nine circles. These include Uttar Pradesh (East), Uttar Pradesh (West), Bihar and Jharkhand, Kolkata, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Mumbai, Maharashtra and Goa and Gujarat.
