Telenity, a digital services and telco cloud provider, has renewed its partnership with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL). Following a successful proof-of-concept (PoC), the company is now developing a business case to potentially collaborate with Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea Limited.

Telenity’s association with BSNL dates back to 2007, when the telco launched location-based services (LBS) powered by the cloud provider’s location-enabling server. BSNL was the first operator in India to offer personalised LBS to mobile consumers, enabling services such as real-time fleet and asset tracking as well as location-based advertisements.

According to Telenity, GPS-based services face limitations such as high-power consumption and inconsistent coverage, while SIM-based LBS offer notable advantages. The company is exploring the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to further enhance the accuracy of these services.
