Telecommunications startups and companies have commenced discussions with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) to conduct live trials of 5G technology using BSNL’s 700MHz band. The trials will commence in one to three months and will focus on captive non-public networks (CNPN).
The discussions emphasised on applications such as voice, video and data based on 5G or 5G fixed wireless access (FWA), network slicing proof of concept, seamless communication over private automatic branch exchange (PABX) and mobiles.
Some projects have been proposed at locations such as Connaught Place, areas around Sanchar Bhawan, JNU campus, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) campus in Delhi, Bengaluru including indoor government offices and campuses, parts of Chennai, around India Habitat Centre or parts in Gurugram, and IIT campus in Hyderabad.
The companies that have proposed conducting these trials include Lekha Wireless, Galore Networks, Velmenni, W4S Labs, Sooktha Consulting, and Coral Telecom, Amantya Technologies, VVDN, Bharat RAN Consortium, Signaltron, and Resonun.
