As per the data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) for the quarter ended December 2020, the revenue reported by India’s telecom sector have rebounded to the levels witnessed during the years prior to the launch of Reliance Jio’s services in September 2016.

The data states that net mobile revenues rose 4.5 per cent sequentially to $25 billion in the quarter ended December 2020, similar to the revenues of $25 billion that the sector earned in the quarter ended June 2016.

However, the revenue of the telecom sector fell to the lowest of $18 billion in the fiscal year 2018-19, forcing some operators to exit their businesses and others to merge with bigger telcos.
