- As per the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s (TRAI) data, operators generated gross revenues of Rs 510.48 billion during the quarter ended September 2020. These included unified access service licence (UASL), unified licence (UL), and mobile+ basic licence holders.
- Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited reported the highest gross revenue of Rs 189.15 billion, followed by Bharti Airtel (Rs 164.27 billion), Vodafone Idea Limited (Vi) (Rs 120.16 billion), Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) (Rs 29.09 billion) and Tata Teleservices Limited (TTSL) (Rs 7.01 billion).
- Circle-wise, Maharashtra emerged as the highest revenue grosser with Rs 42.76 billion. It was followed by Andhra Pradesh (Rs 39.75 billion), Uttar Pradesh-East (Rs 37.02 billion), Tamil Nadu and Chennai (Rs 36.46 billion) and Karnataka (Rs 33.73 billion).
- The least revenue-generating telecom circles were Himachal Pradesh (Rs 4.03 billion), Jammu & Kashmir (Rs 4.72 billion), the Northeast (Rs 5.38 billion), Assam (Rs 9.9 billion) and Kolkata (Rs 11.06 billion).
- As per TRAI’s data, companies operating in the national long distance (NLD) space generated total gross revenues of Rs 95.5 billion during the quarter ended September 2020.
- With Rs 33.25 billion, Bharti Airtel accounted for 34.82 per cent of the total industry NLD revenues. It was followed by Vi (Rs 28.05 billion), Reliance Jio (Rs 12.16 billion), BSNL (Rs 8.64 billion) and Tata Communications (Rs 6.73 billion).
- Meanwhile, companies operating in the international long distance (ILD) space generated total gross revenues of Rs 35.12 billion during the quarter under consideration.
- Bharti Airtel recorded the highest gross revenue in the ILD segment at Rs 15.42 billion. It was followed by Vi at Rs 6.75 billion, AT&T Global Network Services India at Rs 2.22 billion, Tata Communications at Rs 2.15 billion and Verizon Communications India at Rs 1.93 billion.
