• As per the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s (TRAI) data, operators generated gross revenues of Rs 577.63 billion during the quarter ended March 2022. These included unified access service licence (UASL), unified licence (UL) and mobile+ basic licence holders.
  • Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited reported the highest gross revenue of Rs 218.54 billion followed by Bharti Airtel (Rs 196.02 billion), Vodafone Idea Limited (Vi) (Rs 112.85 billion), Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (Rs 45.42 billion), and Tata Teleservices Limited (TTSL) (Rs 4.18 billion).
  • Circle-wise, Maharashtra emerged as the highest revenue grosser at Rs 48.95 billion. It was followed by Uttar Pradesh-East (Rs 44.47 billion), Andhra Pradesh (Rs 43.29 billion), Tamil Nadu and Chennai (Rs 42.12 billion) and Madhya Pradesh (Rs 41.83 billion).
  • The least revenue generating telecom circles were Northeast (Rs 3.79 billion), Himachal Pradesh (Rs 4.58 billion), Jammu & Kashmir (Rs 6.01 billion), Assam (Rs 11.5 billion) and Kolkata (Rs 12.01 billion).

 

 

  • As per TRAI’s data, companies operating in the national long distance (NLD) space generated total gross revenues of Rs 82.38 billion during the quarter ended March 2022.
  • At Rs 24.91 billion, Bharti Airtel accounted for 30.23 per cent of the total industry NLD revenues. It was followed by Vodafone Idea Limited (Rs 21.79 billion), Tata Communications (Rs 13.78 billion), BSNL (Rs 11.2 billion) and Reliance Jio (Rs 3.68 billion).
  • Meanwhile, companies operating in the international long distance (ILD) space generated total gross revenues of Rs 30.22 billion during the quarter under consideration.
  • Bharti Airtel recorded the highest gross revenue in the ILD segment at Rs 10.46 billion. It was followed by Vi (Rs 7.58 billion), Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (Rs 3.98 billion), AT&T Global Network Services India Private Limited (Rs 2.09 billion), Tata Communications Limited (Rs 1.86 billion) and Verizon Communications India Private Limited (Rs 1.64 billion).
