• Telecom operators generated gross revenues of Rs 395.04 billion during the quarter ended March 2021, as per the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s (TRAI) data. These included unified access service licence (UASL), unified licence (UL) and mobile+basic licence holders.
  • Reliance Jio reported the highest gross revenue of Rs 181.15 billion, followed by Bharti Airtel (Rs 176.48 billion), Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) (Rs 28.8 billion), Tata Teleservices Limited (TTSL) (Rs 7.47 billion) and Reliance Communications (Rs 1.14 billion).
  • Circle-wise, Andhra Pradesh emerged as the highest revenue grosser with Rs 34.4 billion. It was followed by Maharashtra (Rs 30.71 billion), Karnataka (Rs 29.82 billion), Bihar (Rs 29.15 billion), and Tamil Nadu and Chennai (Rs 28.78 billion).
  • The lowest revenue generating telecom circles were Himachal Pradesh (Rs 3.71 billion), Jammu & Kashmir (Rs 4.5 billion), the Northeast (Rs 4.85 billion), Haryana (Rs 7.64 billion) and Kolkata (Rs 7.81 billion)

 

  • As per TRAI’s data, companies operating in the national long distance (NLD) space generated total gross revenues of Rs 54.03 billion during the quarter ended March 2021.
  • At Rs 24.76 billion, Bharti Airtel accounted for 21.8 per cent of the total industry NLD revenues. It was followed by BSNL (Rs 12.09 billion), Tata Communications (Rs 6.98 billion), Reliance Jio (Rs 3.59 billion) and Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (Rs 1.84 billion).
  • Meanwhile, companies operating in the international long distance (ILD) space generated total gross revenues of Rs 28.15 billion during the quarter under consideration. Bharti Airtel recorded the highest gross revenue in the ILD segment at Rs 15.52 billion. It was followed by Reliance Jio at Rs 2.77 billion, Verizon Communications India at Rs 2.26 billion, AT&T Global Network Services India at Rs 2.05 billion and Tata Communications at Rs 1.75 billion.
