• As per the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s (TRAI) data, telecom operators generated gross revenues of Rs 697.69 billion during the quarter ended December 2022. These included unified access service licence (UASL), unified licence (UL), and mobile + basic licence holders.
  • Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited reported the highest gross revenue of Rs 238.19 billion followed by Bharti Airtel (Rs 218.6 billion), Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) (Rs 119.03 billion), Vodafone Idea Limited (Vi) (Rs 116.47 billion), and Tata Teleservices Limited (Rs 4.56 billion).
  • Circle-wise, Delhi emerged as the highest revenue grosser with Rs 129.61 billion. It was followed by Maharashtra (Rs 50.88 billion), Uttar Pradesh East (Rs 48.21 billion), Andhra Pradesh (Rs 48.11 billion) and Tamil Nadu (including Chennai) (Rs 45.19 billion).
  • The least revenue generating telecom circles were the Northeast (Rs 3.23 billion), Himachal Pradesh (Rs 4.86 billion), Jammu & Kashmir (Rs 6.55 billion), Assam (Rs 12.5 billion) and Haryana (Rs 13.46 billion).

 

  • As per TRAI’s data, companies operating in the national long distance (NLD) space generated total gross revenues of Rs 71.82 billion during the quarter ended December 2022.
  • With Rs 20.69 billion, Vi accounted for 28.81 per cent of the total industry NLD revenues. It was followed by Bharti Airtel (Rs 19.54 billion), Tata Communications (Rs 12.41 billion), BSNL (Rs 8.03 billion) and Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (Rs 4.02 billion).
  • Meanwhile, companies operating in the international long distance (ILD) space generated total gross revenues of Rs 35.43 billion during the quarter under consideration.
  • Bharti Airtel recorded the highest gross revenue in the ILD segment at Rs 12.58 billion. It was followed by Vi (Rs 9.57 billion), Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (Rs 4.81 billion), Tata Communications (Rs 2.1 billion), AT&T Global Network Services India Private Limited (Rs 1.82 billion) and Verizon Communications India Private Limited (Rs 1.56 billion).
