- As per the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s (TRAI) data, operators generated gross revenues of Rs 440.28 billion during the quarter ended December 2017. These included unified access service licence (UASL), unified licence, and mobile+basic licence holders.
- Bharti Airtel reported the highest gross revenue of Rs 136.57 billion, followed by Vodafone India (Rs 92.08 billion), Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (RJIL) (Rs 74.17 billion), Idea Cellular (Rs 67.52 billion) and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) (Rs 23.82 billion).
- Circle-wise, Maharashtra emerged as the highest revenue grosser with Rs 36.14 billion. It was followed by Delhi (Rs 34.96 billion), Tamil Nadu and Chennai (Rs 34.07 billion), Andhra Pradesh (Rs 32.74 billion) and Karnataka (Rs 32 billion).
- The least revenue generating telecom circles were Himachal Pradesh (Rs 3.18 billion), Jammu & Kashmir (Rs 3.97 billion), the Northeast (Rs 4.54 billion), Assam (Rs 7.37 billion) and Odisha (Rs 8.53 billion).
- As per TRAI’s data, companies operating in the national long distance (NLD) space generated total gross revenues of Rs 94.77 billion during the quarter ended December 2017.
- With Rs 34.63 billion, Bharti Airtel accounted for 36.54 per cent of the total industry NLD revenues. It was followed by Vodafone India (Rs 15.81 billion), Idea Cellular (Rs 11.69 billion), BSNL (Rs 8.68 billion) and Tata Communications (Rs 5.46 billion).
- Meanwhile, companies operating in the international long distance (ILD) space generated total gross revenues of Rs 33.89 billion during the quarter under consideration.
- Bharti Airtel recorded the highest gross revenue in the ILD segment at Rs 12.59 billion. It was followed by Vodafone India (Rs 5.01 billion), Tata Communications (Rs 2.49 billion), AT&T Global (Rs 2.05 billion) and Verizon Communications (Rs 1.91 billion).
