As per the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s (TRAI) data, operators generated gross revenues of Rs 783.13 billion during the quarter ended March 2025. These included unified access service license (UASL), unified license (UL) and mobile + basic license holders.

Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited reported the highest gross revenue of Rs 311.54 billion, followed by Bharti Airtel at Rs 280.74 billion, Vodafone Idea Limited (Vi) at Rs 123.25 billion, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) at Rs 58.16 billion, and Tata Teleservices Limited at Rs 8.87 billion.

Circle-wise, Maharashtra reported the highest gross revenue at Rs 78.34 billion. It was followed by Uttar Pradesh East at Rs 59.75 billion, Andhra Pradesh at Rs 57.98 billion, Bihar at Rs 56.43 and Tamil Nadu (including Chennai) at Rs 54.74 billion.

The least revenue generating telecom circles were the Northeast (Rs 4.47 billion), Himachal Pradesh (Rs 6.22 billion), Jammu & Kashmir (Rs 9.18 billion), Kolkata (Rs 15.60 billion) and Assam (Rs 17.06 billion).

 

As per TRAI’s data, companies operating in the national long distance (NLD) space generated total gross revenues of Rs 66.03 billion during the quarter ended March 2025.

At Rs 18.83 billion, Vi accounted for 28.51 per cent of the total industry NLD revenues. It was followed by Airtel (Rs 14.03 billion), Tata Communications (Rs 11.88 billion), BSNL (Rs 9.26 billion) and Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (Rs 3.92 billion).

Meanwhile, companies operating in the international long distance (ILD) space generated total gross revenues of Rs 30.75 billion during the quarter under consideration.

Vi recorded the highest gross revenue in the ILD segment at Rs 9.08 billion. It was followed by Airtel (Rs 8.33 billion), Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (Rs 5.48 billion), Tata Communications Limited (Rs 2.08 billion), AT&T Global Network Services India Private Limited (Rs 1.64 billion) and Verizon Communications India Private Limited (Rs 1.23 billion).
