Jyotiraditya Scindia, Union Minister of Communications and Development of North Eastern Region held a meeting with with Akash Ambani, chairman, Reliance Jio, Sunil Bharti Mittal, founder and chairman, Bharti Airtel and Akshaya Moondra, managing director and chief executive officer, Vodafone Idea Limited (Vi) to chart growth roadmap for the telecommunications industry. This was the first meeting of the telcos with Scindia following an increase in mobile tariff in range of 10-27 per cent under Modi government.
Scindia highlighted that the growth of telecom sector should be fostered in a collaborative manner while maintaining the interest of consumers and the nation. Furthermore, Scindia mentioned that there are varied schedules for the first presentation of these committees that would take place over the next couple of weeks.
The meeting was also attended by SP Kochhar, director general, Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI).
