Telecom minister Ravi Shankar Prasad dismissed the privacy and security concerns over the Aarogya Setu app. As per Prasad, Aarogya Setu app is completely safe and the data stored is for a limited period of time and would be deleted once the Covid-19 crisis is over.
He added that the information is fully encrypted and pointed out that Aarogya Setu is completely a Covid-centric app. Further, Prasad said that such apps were part of standard practices across the world as countries tackle the coronavirus outbreak.
The Aarogya Setu app, has given rise to fears of surveillance by the state as well as the security of the personal data that a user needs to fill in after downloading it.
