Telecom equipment makers have reportedly requested the government to provide incentives for increasing value addition in manufacturing and reducing the industry’s dependence on imports.
In a recent meeting with the government, senior government officials were apprised of the growth opportunities that can emerge for local manufacturers and operators. According to the domestic telecom gear companies, fiscal incentives for making the components locally should be considered by the government as it will help in the faster development of the ecosystem.
According to industry sources, the government will soon hold further discussions on the matter.
