According to information shared with Parliament, telecom operators’ total adjusted gross revenue (AGR) liabilities payable to the government up to financial year 2024-25 (FY25) have crossed Rs 1.77 trillion.

The data showed that Vodafone Idea Limited (Vi) carried the largest burden at Rs 899.52 billion. This is followed by the Bharti Group with Rs 510.91 billion, the Tata Group with Rs 204.26 billion, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited with Rs 144.62 billion, and Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited with Rs 19.84 billion.

Meanwhile, in Vi’s case, AGR dues related to the period from FY07 to FY19 amounting to Rs 876.95 billion have been frozen. These frozen liabilities are subject to reassessment. Further, Parliament was also informed that the Department of Telecommunications has constituted a committee on January 30 to determine the outcome of the reassessment process for Vi’s frozen AGR dues.
