Sweden-based operator Tele2 has awarded a contract to Siemens to expand its GSM network and build infrastructure for a WCDMA network for its Latvian subsidiary. Under the contract, Siemens will expand Tele2 Latvia’s GSM radio and core networks, upgrade existing GSM circuit and packet core network elements with 3G functionalities and construct the WCDMA network in the country’s metropolitan areas.
