The CEO of the Year 2010 category of tele.net?s Telecom Operator Awards 2011 was jointly won by Sanjeev Aga, managing director, Idea Cellular and Anil Sardana, managing director, Tata Power and former managing director, Tata Teleservices Limited (TTSL).

Sanjeev Aga also won the award for Outstanding Contribution to the Sector.

Bharti airtel and Vodafone Essar emerged as the winners in the Best National Mobile Operator category, while Indus Towers and GTL Infrastructure both won the Best Infrastructure Provider award. B.S. Shantharaju, CEO, Indus Towers received the award, while C.V. Kane, chief operating officer, GTL Infrastructure accepted the award for GTL.

Also, Bharti airtel emerged as the clear market leader, winning awards in five major categories- Most Admired Telecom Operator, Best National Mobile Operator, Best Enterprise Services Provider, Best VAS Provider and Operator with Best Rural Performance. BSNL won in two categories- Best National Fixed line Operator and Best Broadband Operator.

Shyamal Ghosh, former secretary, Department of Telecommunications (DoT), chairman, Telecom Commission and former administrator of the USO Fund was the chief guest at the ceremony.

Tata Communications bagged the award for the Best Long Distance Operator, while Hughes Communications emerged as the Best VSAT Operator. Hughes? award was accepted by Partho Banerjee, president & MD, while Christopher Almeida, senior vice president and head, India BU, Global voice solutions represented Tata Communications.

The award for the Best VAS Provider was presented by Jyoti Handa, regional sales director, South Asia, Dialogic. Also, the award for the Best Infrastructure Provider was presented by Hans Le Sage, president, SPAA05.com. Some of the prominent industry leaders present at the event were D.P.S. Seth, president, IPTV Forum; Sanjeev Aga, managing director, Idea Cellular; Anil Sardana, managing director, Tata Power and former managing director, Tata Teleservices Limited; Partho Banerjee, president & MD, Hughes and S.C.
