According to IIFL Securities, a possible solution to the ongoing adjusted gross revenue (AGR) problem can be telcos paying the licence fee excluding the spectrum usage charge (SUC) dues basis self-assessment.

As per IIFL Securities, the Supreme Court (SC) has not objected to the principle of self-assessment and the original litigation pertained to only licence fee and not SUC.

However, if Vodafone Idea files for bankruptcy, the situation would be different and payments would be stopped.

Further, the firm highlighted that since the SC has ordered all the concerned companies to make the payment to the government, this would only lead to lack of clarity if such arises wherein payments have to be stopped.
