The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has directed the Adani Group operated Navi Mumbai airport to permit telecom operators to deploy network infrastructure at the airport in line with the right of way (RoW) rules. These rules require non-discriminatory, fair and transparent processing of RoW applications.

According to the DoT, the airport qualifies as a public entity under the Telecommunications Act and, therefore, telecom operators must be allowed to roll out their networks in accordance with the notified RoW rules.

The direction from the DoT comes a few days after leading telecom operators raised the issue with the government and the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India.
