Telcos make upfront payments for the spectrum bought in March 2021 auction

Telecom operators have made upfront payments to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) for the recently concluded spectrum auction.

While Bharti Airtel deposited Rs 63.23 billion, Reliance Jio made payments worth Rs 150.19 billion and Vodafone Idea (Vi) Rs 5.74 billion.

In the recent 4G spectrum auction which concluded on March 2, 2021, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has fetched a total amount of Rs 778.14 billion after six rounds of bidding. Further, the operators bought airwaves in the 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz, and 2300 MHz bands.
