According to Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), average revenue per user (ARPU) of telecom service providers will needs to double up to Rs 300 by the end of 2021 to support the fresh investments in technology and infrastructure that operators will be required to make in some time.

At present, the ARPUs of telcos is around Rs 150. The increase in ARPU would also mean further increase in tariffs for the consumers.

However, COAI is of the view that the whole burden of rise in ARPU will not fall on individual subscribers as enterprises form a major part of the telcos’ business now. COAI expects an increase in the adoption of mobility-based applications and solutions by the enterprises in the post pandemic era.
