The government of Telangana, in partnership with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), is set to launch the Telangana Data Exchange (TGDeX) on July 2, 2025, marking India’s first state-driven digital public infrastructure initiative for artificial intelligence (AI).
TGDeX is designed to enable cross-domain AI solution development through coordinated efforts between the government, industry players, research bodies, and startups. Developed by the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, the platform will offer high-quality datasets and collaborative tools for AI developers, with strategic and technical input from JICA’s DXLab.
Further, TGDeX will draw on Telangana’s robust AI ecosystem, involving government departments, private sector stakeholders, academic bodies, and both open-source and licensed data providers. The platform will also utilise the state’s open data platform, which houses public-domain datasets from various government of Telangana departments.
Furthermore, entities within Telangana’s tech ecosystem, including the Telangana AI Mission, T-Hub, MATH at T-Hub, IIT Hyderabad, and RICH, will contribute towards TGDeX’s objective of compiling more than 2,000 AI-ready datasets over the next five years.
