The Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) has set aside Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s (TRAI) order as per which Vodafone Idea Limited (VIL) had to put its RedX premium plan on hold.
As per TDSAT, TRAI’s directive suspending VIL’s RedX plan lacks prima facie reasons and even the regulator’s justification that suspension would facilitate a detailed examination of VIL’s RedX offer is devoid of any merits.
Following TDSAT’s ruling, VIL can continue to onboard new customers for its premium RedX plan that promises faster data speeds and priority services.
Earlier, on July 14, 2020, the TDSAT had refused to stay TRAI’s order. VIL had approached the appellate tribunal on July 13, 2020, seeking interim relief.
