The Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) has asked the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) not to request Loop Telecom and Etisalat DB to encash or renew their performance bank guarantees.

In an interim order over two separate petitions filed by Loop Telecom and Etisalat, TDSAT added that until any further direction, DoT should not demand any new bank guarantees from them.

The petitions asked the TDSAT to issue a directive to DoT to release the guarantees submitted in lieu of the spectrum allotted to them, claiming that they have rolled out the networks.

The tribunal has listed the matter on December 22, 2011 for the next hearing.
