Tata Teleservices Limited (TTSL) is seeking clarifications on the DoT subscriber verification process. According to the company, DoT’s findings, based on spot checks in Chennai, Andhra Pradesh and Delhi circles, have been extrapolated for all these circles.
DoT had directed TTSL to discontinue all telephone connections that were provided without proper verification, with immediate effect. The company has been issued a show cause notice as to why appropriate action, including penalty, should not be imposed on it. The company has reportedly stated that this was “not appropriate” and has sought details of the specified subscribers to analyse the situation.
