Tata Group is reportedly close to acquiring Wistron’s factory by August 2023, which will propel the former into the assembly of iPhones. The Wistron factory located in Karnataka is valued at over $600 million and employs over 10,000 workers.

Wistron has committed to shipping $1.8 billion worth iPhones from the factory in the financial year 2024 to bag production-linked incentives from the government. The company is planning to triple its plant’s workforce by next year. The Tata Group will reportedly honour these commitments as Wistron exits iPhone assembling business in the country. It already makes iPhone chassis at its factory in Tamil Nadu.
